A few weeks ago the Department for Education issued a summary report of an Interoperability Review. The review appeared to be poorly researched and inaccurate. Although the review had a clear objective, it’s conclusions, due the inaccuracies it included, were ‘wide-of-the-mark’.
The Department for Education Review can be downloaded from Interoperability Review Report – Summary.
SIFA UK has responded in particular to the inaccuracies about the Systems Interoperability Framework (SIF) and sought a meeting with the Education Secretary Michael Gove.
The SIFA UK responses can be down loaded from Response from SIF Association UK Management Board to DfE Interoperability Review summary
I think that the case for using SIF remains stringer than ever particularly in the area of data transfer between disparate management informations systems.
ZiLink is an excellent example of how SIF enables the interoperability of data between systems in a school. For more information about ZiLink go to http://zilink.schoolsict.net.
